Climbing is one activity that is not for the faint-hearted. However, many brave to scale heights for fun, adventure and challenge. There is something about ascending and reaching the peaks that make each climber to go from one summit to the next. Others though, climb as part of their profession. One thing for sure, climbing is not so easy to take on without proper equipment and training.
There are different types of climbers; all uses similar gears and gadgets. Those who climb poles and trees as part of their job require climbing spikes. These are spiky steel boots attachments so the climbers can dig into the poles or tree trunks as they ascend. Aside from a belt climbing harnesses, the climbing spikes serve as protective devices to lessen the danger of falling off.
Mountaineers use different mountain climbing spikes. These metal spikes called crampons, are attach to their boots for traction. Crampons are best suited for ice climbing and ski touring. By kicking into the ice, crampons that are made of aluminium or strong steel help climbers ascend to the mountains.
Other climbing spikes in the market are the classic ninja climbing spikes. Not only designed for climbing, ice walking and scaling, they are use for self-defence. Also known as Ashiko, they are strapped to feet and traditionally worn by Japanese Ninjas to climb trees. These strongly welded and sharpened steel are deadly and used for combat.
